Netbook reflection 2013.

HOW HAS HAVING A NETBOOK CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET HELPED MY LEARNING THIS YEAR?

This year my netbook has helped me with lots of things I never knew about.  I have learnt many things from everyone in the class, especially my teachers. I have related and helped other this year by helping them when they needed help, like this year I helped a newby in this school post his first blog post. My friends have taught me and helped me by getting on a new site by searching on our google docs. I have also learnt about the earth (solid).  I have learnt numerous facts about rocks. I’ve learnt about magma, how it forms and where it comes from. I have been managing my self sometimes. I won’t lie, this year I have been distracted but sometimes not that much. For the past couple terms we had a class battle for sports. Room 7 vs Room 5. I have been participating and contributing with my fellow classmates. I have also learnt from some illustrators. They have helped me by being like a veteran at art and how to draw. I have also wrote a whole narrative. My teachers have helped me improve more on my writing and some of my struggling subjects. Like maths, the teacher showed me what quarter to is, I just knew quarter past but now I know o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. These have all helped me by telling the time. This year I’ve learnt down to download firefox too from my friend. I found out that nearly most of the people that talk are the ones that can’t figure out the simplest instruction. I’ve also done this website called kiwi kids news, it about the current events that are going on now. My netbook has helped me by typing things instead of writing, it’s much quicker! This year I’ve learn how to share things on my document with people. For writing I have learnt how to make a narrative and a news report. My friends have also told me how to make a new account on your google. This netbook has helped me this year with taking things easy, I’m glad I know somethings from here as I move on to intermediate next year. Wish me luck!

Watercare with Sally.

On Monday a lady from watercare came to our class. Her name was Sally, she taught us where our poo goes and where water comes from. I thought poo went out to the sea but it actually goes to a huge factory. The poo gets eaten by little bugs, then the poo turns into acid. After awhile some other bugs eat the acid and there's electricity. They take most of the poo and dry then put it under trees, plants and grass. Our sewage water gets sent to the same factory. When water goes to the factory they clean it by sending it to these huge filters. Inside the filters they're these little bugs called superbugs, they drain out every dirty thing in the water. Then when they're full they take a little nap. After the water to our home to drink then the start the whole process again. Finally after we finished learning about water we actually did a little experiment. We had to make a group of 3 or 4. The group we made was Halatoa, Me, Joshua and Leenas. We had to number ourselves 1, 2, 3 and 4.  I was 1, Leenas was 2, Joshua 3 and Halatoa 3. Number 1 (me) had to fill the 4 cups to half way then come back. After I filled up the 4 cups the lucky ones number 2, 3 and 4 could put the food colouring in. The colours were red, yellow and blue. I had to wait for a long time but then I got to get these tubes and number 1, so the first one had the chance to make a colourful rainbow. I learnt that salt water is heavier than fresh water so the salt will sink right down to the bottom. And you might just might end up with drinking salt water.

My 2 comments.

Here are my 2 comments I made for the blogs of the week last week.  I commented on Room 6 blog but it didn't seen there, it said it will be visible to the poster. Hopefully they see it!

What I practiced during maths.

Today I practiced about time.  I made a new high score between me and Sebastian and we changed the difficulty to 15 for veterans.  Sebastian was a good opponent for me, he won more times but I came out with the new high score. Here's a photo of the score I earned.

News Article for the School party.

SCHOOL PARTY AT PANMURE BRIDGE SCHOOL.
(Hosted by C3)

On the 9th of November 2013 Panmure Bridge School had a school party.  It was hosted by C3 Church, and it was from 11am to 1.30pm.  Many people were there to witness the party that includes, Pro wrestlers, Mr. Whippy, a Cafe, a Pamper room and much more.  Lots of items as well, there were the Ukulele group, Kapa Haka and a Cook Island dance!  Heaps of people were enjoying themselves.  Like people holding a nice hot chocolate with a smile, and maybe four girls holding some party food.  Anthony thought “the food was amazing, lollies, sausage sizzle, making your own biscuits and way more.”  People really enjoyed the Pro wrestlers, it was really interesting.  You could do many things like trying to push each other with sticks, riding a horse!  There was also a bouncy castle.  And the party was for everyone.  I give this party a 10/10! Because it was amazing and free!

A sneak peek of the Pro wrestlers.

My photos from the Tamaki River walk.

These are my four pictures from our Tamaki River walk.
I chose lines because they're easy to recognise.
I also chose lines because there is more than one in the pictures.
I learnt that walking around the basin is tiring.

My 3 positive, thoughtful and helpful comments.

Here are my comments I did on Rm 5, 2 and 1.  As you can see they are all positive, thoughtful and helpful.

What I know about decimals.

In maths I have learnt about decimals.
In decimals 1/10 is 0.1, if you're doing tenths like for example 9/10 you only write the number you picked, not the tenth.  So it will be 0.9.  Here's picture of my Studyladder decimal work.
As you can see there were 15 questions and I have got them all right.

My narrative introduction. Zombies at school.

It was horrible morning as I woke up.  I usually stayed by myself.  I could hear the raindrops as it dropped on top of the rooftop, as if it was raining like this since last year.  Then I realised I was late for school, the time was 9:03.  I aggressively sprinted to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I looked typical as usual.  Black hair sticking out, I kind of had little horns sticking out from my hair, I looked like a goat or something.  When I finished brushing my teeth I went to go put my uniform in a rush.  As I was finishing putting my jumper on I quickly put a apple, orange and a mandarin in my lunchbox.  I put my shoes on grabbed the umbrella and quickly walked my way of to Panmure Bridge School.  As I was walking I saw no one on the street, it was completely empty.

Here's a sneek peek of my narrative. I reckon I did good at my introduction.

Portage Rd.

On this map you will see the red line is where Portage Rd is.
Portage Rd was used for transporting from one place to another, it was much easier than going around
the whole of the North Island.

My Tamaki area map.

The Tamaki area goes from, Pt. England to Mt Wellington down to Panmure and along the Tamaki River.  My family had lived in The Tamaki area since 1991 I think?

Tamaki facts on Voicethread.

Here is a video on what we did on our topic. We all searched up some facts and wrote them down in our litracy book. Then we went down to the mat and shared some of our facts with Miss Paton, Miss Gounder and Mrs Miller. Our facts were about how people used the Tamaki River in the olden days. Please listen to my comment about how people took a shortcut instead of going around the whole of the North Island.

My term 3 reflection.

* I enjoyed the Panmure Bridge School tournament.  The activity I most enjoyed in the School tournament was Uni-Hockey.

* I enjoyed the activity because it was fun playing and we won on our final game!

* I learnt about fractions.  I learnt that 2/4 can equal to 1/2.

* I am really proud of the School tournaments we played for our class.

* What I need to learn next term is to manage myself around my friends.

Thursday, 26 September 2013

Day production reflection.

* I was pleased with my acting because I put some some effort and expression in to it.

* I was impressed with Room 5 because of their costumes.

* We still need to work on our speed and our confidence (not to be shy.)

* I’m going to make my classes performance even better by using more expression and be a little bit loud.

* I think we need to remember is -
  • Look up and smile
  • Try to not get distracted
  • Use more expression
  • Go on and off the stage quicker
  • Don’t make a sound

My Thermal Geyserland facts.

Thermal Geyserland

Definition:
  • A natural hot spring that intermittently ejects a column of water and steam into the air.

Notes:
  • Waiotapu (Maori word for "sacred waters") is a living geothermal area at the southern end of the Okataina volcanic centre, just north of the Reporoa Caldera, in New Zealand's Taupo volcanic zone.  It is 27 kilometres south of Rotorua.

Ruamoko rages.

What is it about?
The story Ruamoko rages is about the volcanoes that are extinct, active and dormant.  It tells us what dormant, extinct and active means and show where and what the earths body is about, as in the earths body I mean crust, core and mantle.  Also it show where the tectonic plates are and it looks like New Zealand is right in the middle of it.  That's why New Zealand has earthquakes a lot.  The  outer core is liquid and the inner core is solid.  Below the crust is a much thicker layer called mantle, the deeper you go into the mantle, the hotter things get.  Earth is a lumpy, bumpy crust.  It's made out of large slabs of solid rocks.

What I learnt?
I learnt that Ruamoko is the youngest son of Ranginui and Papatuanuku.  Ruamoko lives right in the belly of Papatuanuku.  Also I learnt that when he is angry a eruption happens but when he's calm the earth is quiter and also calmer.

What are my thoughts?
I thought this was some great information about our topic, and it tells us a little bit of information about the earth's body.

Do I have any questions?
When volcanoes are extinct do they still have any lava left in the volocano?

Our rugby union tournament at Pt. England.

On Wednesday 4th of September the rippa rugby girls both year 7, 8, 5, 6 and the rugby union boys year 6, 5, 7, 8 all walked to Pt England reserve down at Pt England, when we got there we went straight to action year 5 and 6 boys versing Pt England, year 7 and 8 restricted against Glenn Innes and year 7 and 8 open against St. Pius X.  Sadly year 7 and 8 lost, I was in the year 7 and 8 open team.  It was really hard!  After our St. Pius X game we versed Rupotaka, sadly again we lost.  We tried hard but didn't get to get the victory, and we didn't even score one try!  After our tough game versing Rupotaka we had a break and a bye.  While our bye we trained hard we practiced everything we weren't good at.  After our bye we versed Tamaki, we lost again and still not one try.  The next game we tryed our best to get one try!  It was our last game, we were against Glenbrae, and all we needed was one try!  Finally we got a try from Henry, he just went running through the defense like it was nothing.  Then we went back to the tent happy scoring one try, we all lost our final game.  But we walked back to Panmure Bridge School happy!  When we got back we changed to our uniforms and went back to work, even though the year 7 and 8 open lost we still had smiles on our face!

The water cycle.

Evaporation:
Evaporation is when the sun fires up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam goes away from the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air.

Precipitation:
Precipitation occurs when so much water has condensed that the air can't hold it anymore.  The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow.

Condensation:
Condensation happens when the water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds. This is called condensation.
You can see the same sort of thing at home...  Pour a glass of freezing water on a hot day and watch what happens.  Water forms on the outside of the glass.  That water didn't somehow leak through the glass!  It actually came from the air.  Water vapor in the warm air, turns back into liquid when it touches the cold glass.

My Grandfather's burial.

Grandfather’s Re-burial
(In Tonga)

Stress day, the day my grandfather gets buried again in mats.  We had a couple of moments in a room with him alone, pretty weird if you ask me.  Me my cousin’s, my aunt's and uncle’s were ready to leave to the wharf A.K.A The ship harbour.  One of my uncle’s were waiting at the island we were heading, he was actually the governor of the island.  The island we were heading for was an island called Ha’apai.  So at our house in Tonga, stressed, un-confident we actually didn’t feel like going.  But too late the taxi’s had already come (and a car to put my grandpa in.)  So we took a bunch of flowers and his body, there were a lot of men to carry him.

We hopped inside all the cars and went to the wharf, as we were taking a ride to the wharf I noticed the car holding my grandpa in it was the lights were flashing.  As it was flashing the cars on the other side of the road went to the side, it was really cool and also it shows the people showed respect.  We arrived to the wharf getting ready to head off to Ha’apai, our other cousins were there too.  So we put Grandpa (Teau) on the boat first and then us.   As we were getting ready to go on the boat my uncle’s servant A.K.A Driver gave us all one Coke each.  Then we went on the boat, we got our passes checked and went to our room.  Some people stayed and slept outside, but we were just lucky enough to get a room.  It took a long time before we left.

Midnight, the boat still not there.  Everyone is not that sleepy, well just our parents.  Our cousins were acting hypo, even me!  We went outside and checked if we were nearly, but not even close!  So we felt like a snack, we all didn’t feel like going down stairs to get food so we just went to the cafe.  Wow the cafe is taking for ever, then I got in trouble from my older cousin she was angrier than ever!  Then she said, “shut up eh, it’s rude idiot!”  The man asked “what would you guys want?”  “Mai pie e taha” my cousin said.  The man was really good at speaking Tongan but not that good at speaking english.  So we went outside and ate, then went back down stairs just to have a rest.  We played some hand games and attempted to do some hand tricks.  After we realised staying in the room is so boring, we went outside again to look at the nice blue water it looked like an illusion.

Day time, we’re almost there!  Just cleaning up the mess we made.  It took a couple of minutes to get there, but when we were there it was awesome!  My uncle was waiting with another boat (and our other cousin’s that went on the plane.)

So as we were waiting everyone on the boat was too, but since my uncle was the governor we were lucky enough to go first.  So as we got out with the flowers and my grandpa there was a College with instruments, in my mind that was strange?  Then as we got closer to the other boat we the College played nice opera kind of music, it sounded beautiful!  When we went on the boat we were hyped up, we were excited!  Then the engine started, broooooom!  We went straight to my grandpa’s home, Ha’ano.

While we were riding we had rough waves, and when I mean rough I mean rough!  It was very hard controlling my self trying not to move and of course we were scared, but just a little.  Then at last we got there finally, it took 3 hours straight!

Arrival we got there safe.  We sang our way to the  church carrying my grandfather, we were all wearing black with mats around our waist.  In Tongan we call it “To’uvala.”  After we sang our way to the church we put my grandpa in the front of the church and sang gospel songs in Tongan, and we sang the National anthem of Tonga.  It was really weird because we didn’t stand up to sing gospel songs but we did when it was the National anthem.  After that went to wash our face because sea water came splashing in our faces!  After we wait a while for group 2 to come.  When they came we went to a ha to have a feed.  Then we went back to the church and took my grandpa’s body to his grave, I noticed there was only two people who was buried there, my grandpa and my great grandpa.  After we went to a hall and had a huge feed!  After our feed we were getting ready to leave, this time the group that went first is the group that’s going last.

Last night here, eating first.  After we ate we organised ourselves who would go first on the truck.  So the group I went on was first.  So we headed off to the wharf (for the small boats,) after we waited awhile.  When they came we were headed straight to the wharf!  So we’re at the wharf all ready, we hoped in the boats, we went in groups I went with the men, the ladies were on another boat.  We headed straight to Pangai, (a place in Ha’apai.)  When we got to Pangai we went across the new bridge, from one island to another.  We took a truck to my uncle’s house, but when we got there, there was not enough room!  So we had to go to my uncle’s guest house, we had a rest and a shower.  5:00 in the morning!  No wasting time straight to the big boat hurry!  We were all in a rush, everyone getting ready and heading straight to the car.  We got in the car and headed straight to the wharf.  When we got to the wharf we all got our checks done and went to our room, it was a different room this time, same design but just different places.  We were all the way at the bottom.  Then we said our goodbye’s and went back to my home country Nuku’alofa.  When we got to Nuku’alofa we headed back home, our home’s name is Tu’ataa, when we walked through the doors of Tu’ataa we saw my two cousin’s Tapu and Semi, (they stayed) just finished school they go Tonga College Atele. We were  glad we got home safe!

(The school Tapu and Semi go to.)

Some of the islands we went to, there’s Ha’ano and Pangai.

Popplet: Types of Landforms.

Here is my Popplet brainstorm about Landforms. I learnt the difference between ocean and sea. Sea def: The continuous body of salt water covering most of the earth's surface, especially this body regarded as a geophysical entity distinct from earth and sky. Ocean def: The entire body of salt water that covers more than 70 percent of the earth's surface.

Venn diagram present education and future education.

This is my Venn diagram I made on Venn Diagram.  Miss Paton taught us on Thursday.
(No wonder she made it in the e-learning academy!)  I learnt that paper is a
similar to future education and present education.

Howick Historical Village trip.

This is a picture of what we did at the Howick Historical Village.  This is room 7's second activity, it was scary, well just for some people.  We learnt a lot about what it would be like in the past.  The teacher had to check our nails, if our nails were not clean we'd into huge trouble!  Also people with their left had to write with their right hand on slateboards.  After completing our activities we got some free time around the Village.  The Howick Historical Village was awesome!  I learnt a school could fit in a whole class!  I'd like to thank the volunteers for showing examples for what it was like back in the past.

My dream classroom in the future.

This is my dream classroom I would want in the future. I made this on floorplanner. This helps kids learn because this class has enough space for kids to learn properly, also there is a book room and computer room for kids if they need some silent time. There are also some bean bags to help the kids rest on. There is 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional, I chose 2 dimensional because it's slightly better in my opinion.

Here is my Venn diagram about education. It shows similarities and differences between past and present education.

Speech refliction.

How well did I do with my speech?

My speech topic was year six and five should wear a school jacket.

My voice was clear but it wasn't loud enough.

I stood still and relaxed.

The hardest part of speeches was trying to not giggle in the middle of my speech.

I am proud of saying it in front of the whole class and getting it over and done with.

Next time I will try better at making my voice loud enough for everyone to hear.

My cyber bullying poster.

This is my poster I made on Google draw, it's about cyber bullying.
It's important to keep yourself online, remember to not give away too much infomation about yourself.
